We’ve found the best way to have fresh coconuts is to crack it open with my 5yr old’s “Thor” hammer (a meat tenderizer he bought that looks like Mjölnir😅)

I’ve also found the best way to stay on top of your marketing is not to do it all on your own with sheer willpower and brute force. 🤷🏻‍♀️😉

i did the math. this summer I posted on social me

i did the math. this summer I posted on social media an average of 76x per week…

but none of it was on my personal pages.

several people asked,
“i miss seeing your posts.”
“what’s going on?”
“everything alright?”

i simply explained - personal social media was just one of my “no’s” this summer.

i said “no” to a lot of things, so I could say “yes” to others.

“No” to:
- sleeping in
- fast food
- personal social media
- babysitters for my kids
- scrolling at bed time

“Yes” to
- starting work at 5am
- making fresh meals
- prioritizing my client’s growth
- spending time with my family
- reading & studying at night

The result?

One of the best “work from home” summers ever. (Although very little of it was *at* home!)

Our family traveled over 4,000 miles by car and countless others by plane.

MD ➡️ VA ➡️ WV ➡️ PA ➡️ OH ➡️ KY ➡️ IN ➡️ IL ➡️ MO ➡️ KS ➡️ OK ➡️ AR ➡️ CO ➡️ TX ➡️ NC ➡️ SC ➡️ GA ➡️ FL

We took kids kayaking, hiking, fishing & to the beach. I officiated my first wedding as a licensed minister. I served as a camp counselor. We helped host the 25th annual family reunion with nearly 70 relatives in attendance. We went indoor skydiving. We spent time in the kitchen and time reading books.

And in the middle of it all - my business onboarded 5 new companies, launched 3 re-brands, built 7 websites, raised $40k for a sponsor event, and yes - posted on social media almost 76X per week. 🤪

Is my house clean? No
Is my personal social media thriving? No
Is my suitcase unpacked? No

But…
Is my family happy? Yes
Is my business thriving? Yes
Is my heart full? Yes

➡️➡️ whatever this next season of life looks like for you, can I encourage you to CHOOSE your yeses and no’s based on what you love & value?

It’s not always easy (like when that alarm went off at 5am every day😅), but it’s oh, so rewarding.

The key to all of these ideas (and yes - I’ve used them ALL to grow my own career over the last 20 years)... is strategy.

Being intentional with your time and energy so you’re not just “checking a box” – but actually doing something that moves you and your business, ministry or non-profit FORWARD.

So here’s #11…

And honestly, I’m a little scared to do this, because my calendar and my time is SACRED to me….

But I believe in this – and in you – so much, I’m gonna take a big risk…

STOP thinking a tool = a plan

➡️ Just because you ride a peleton bike every day doesn’t mean your pants size will shrink. 🚲

➡️ Just because you deposit money in a savings account every paycheck doesn’t mean you’ll be able to retire at age 55. 🛳️

➡️ Just because you create a beautiful vision board doesn’t mean your PNL statement will show 50% growth year over year. 📈

➡️ Just because you post on Instagram 5x a week and gain a big following doesn’t mean your business has 40x more clients than it did last year. 📊

A tool ≠ a plan.
If you want a specific result, you need a plan.

STOP feeding the machine.
START being intentional with your time and energy.

Your health, your future, your impact and your relationships matter TOO MUCH.

TOO MUCH is at stake to spend another year on autopilot.
